Iron Man X Captain Marvel Review

iron man x captain marvel

In the latest installment of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, we see Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) join the Avengers. This new hero is a powerful Kree warrior, and she brings with her a host of powers that make her the most dangerous member of the team. But she’s also the most human. And that’s the key to her success.

Writer Derek Landy does a great job of introducing Carol to new readers, updating fans on her comic book history, and connecting the current narrative to the rest of the MCU. By keeping Iron Man and Captain America mostly on the sidelines, he allows us to focus on Eden’s story, while still providing them with plenty of action and adventure.

Landy is also smart to focus on a relationship between the two main characters. This helps to add depth to both of them, and makes it easy for readers to root for both. Despite their differences, they both care deeply about one another. They are friends, and even rivals at times, but they’re always able to find common ground. And this is especially true when they face off against each other.

The fight scenes between them are a lot of fun and exciting. However, they aren’t as impressive as some of the other action sequences in the movie. One example is the use of Nirvana’s “Come As You Are” to accompany a scene where Captain Marvel blasts the Supreme Intelligence into the past. This is a great song, but it seems out of place and only serves to highlight the fact that Brie is a woman.

Another issue is the way that some of the other villains are handled. The Red Skull and the Hydra Brutes are both played to be overly stereotypical and somewhat racist. They’re also not nearly as intimidating or threatening as they should be, particularly the Red Skull.

Overall, though, Iron Man x Captain Marvel is an entertaining entry in the MCU. It’s not as good as some of the other recent movies, but it has a lot going for it. It’s a good way to introduce Carol to the MCU, and it has some cool character moments that should please fans.

It also features some great action and a great villain. And, of course, it has a fantastic star in Brie Larson. However, it feels like Marvel is stuck in a phase 1. They’ve been making movies for a while now and should have figured out what works by now. I hope that they can get back on track with their next movies.
