Iron Man is a fictional superhero created by Marvel. The character first appeared in the 1960s and is a founding member of the Avengers. He is an atomic-powered humanoid, who is capable of flight and uses powerful weapons. He also has a repulsor beam that can be used to attack, protect, and power up his armor. In addition to his abilities, he has an internal artificial intelligence operating system that gives him strategies and background information about his opponents.
Stark inherited his family’s business, Stark Industries, and has been working on weapons for the United States military. During an excursion to a war zone, he triggers a booby trap and is critically injured by shrapnel. A communist, Wong-Chu, demands that he build him a weapon; instead, he builds a suit of armor to sustain his heart and becomes Iron Man.
Initially, Stark fights enemies that threaten his company or himself, such as The Mandarin, Melter, and the Ghost, as well as Soviet-allied villains like Black Widow and Spymaster, who later defect to the U.S., and enemies of the state such as the Crimson Dynamo and Titanium Man. He eventually takes on enemies of international renown, such as Mr. Doll, who extorts millionaires to fund his mystic power, and Captain Marvel, who advocates for predetermined justice through her ability to see the future.
After a feud with the Avengers over the Kree–Shi’ar War, Stark starts his own team called Force Works, but that too is short-lived as he again has a falling out with the others. Ultimately, he rejoins the Avengers.
In the modern comics, Iron Man has been a key character in a number of significant storylines, including The Avengers’ Civil War and The Amazing Spider-Man. He also has a supporting role in the Guardians of the Galaxy, where he has developed a space-adapted version of his armor.
The character’s design has varied over the years. The original suit, designed by Stan Winston’s company, was a rubber and metal version that looked more like a robot than a human being. The latest iteration, introduced in 2014, has a sleeker look with less bulk and a more organic shape.
An iron man match is a special type of 1-on-1 match in Overwatch. Each player chooses a different character to play as and the battle ends when one player’s character has defeated all of the other’s. This variant is popular at tournaments, as it allows players to test their skills with a wider variety of characters than they might normally use in normal matches. There are three formats available for ironman matches: standard, tag team, and squad strike. Each has its own benefits and drawbacks. The standard format is the most common and requires that each player has a minimum of four different stock characters to be eligible to compete. The other two variations allow for fewer than four different stocks but require that each of the players selects an entirely new character for their team.
