Whether they want revenge for winning the lottery, a business rival or a perceived slight in the past (as is the case with Aldrich Killian), there’s no shortage of people who would like to see iron man dead. The villains on this list have a variety of motives, but they all share a common goal: To beat or kill him and steal his armor.
Here are some of the best iron man villains to watch out for on the big screen:
Yinsen – A genius who creates an electric generator that gives him super strength and the ability to recharge his suit’s arc reactor. He and Stark work together to escape from the Ten Rings, but Yinsen sacrifices himself to divert them so that Stark can power up his arc reactor. The Mandarin – A warlord who seeks ultimate power. He is a tactical, mystical and technological genius who frequently pits his powers against those of Iron Man.
The Whirlwind – A man who was obsessed with Janet Van Dyne, aka the Wasp, and served as her chauffeur before becoming a dangerous stalker. He was also a skilled pilot and a master tactician, making him one of the most formidable foes to have ever fought Iron Man.
Madame Masque – A brilliant strategist and martial arts expert who wears a golden mask that hides her disfigured face. She commands a number of robot duplicates of herself that she can control. She was the daughter of Count Nefaria and the niece of Count Drax and is a close friend of Stark’s.
Justin Hammer – A wealthy business rival who is desperate to replicate the Iron Man technology and provide the U.S. government with an army of robotic henchmen. He is smarmy and spineless, but is elevated by Sam Rockwell’s fantastic performance.
Stane – A competing industrialist who is determined to get the edge on Stark by stealing his arc reactor. He attempts to do so by entering Stark’s home and stealing it from his chest, but is outmatched without the suit’s new power source.
Several other characters from the comics have worn the Mauler armor: Soames – An elderly worker who stole the suit for vengeance against corporate greed; Sunturion – A mutated human who generates microwave energy; and Taskmaster – A mercenary with photographic reflexes.
