Iron man pictures are a collection of images that show the popular Marvel superhero. The character of Iron Man first appeared in the comics in 1962 in Tales of Suspense #39 and soon became a founding member of the superhero team, the Avengers, alongside other heroes such as Thor, Spider-Man, and the Hulk. The character was created by writer and editor Stan Lee, along with scripter Larry Lieber and artist Don Heck. Since his debut, he has been the star of numerous comic book series and has also appeared in animated films and live-action movies.

The 2008 film Iron Man was directed by Jon Favreau and starred Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, the man who builds a mechanized suit of armor to become the superhero Iron Man. It was the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and was a huge success. Downey proved adept at capturing Stark’s personality, brilliance, and charisma in the role. While Stark’s original hulking gray costume was replaced with a succession of ever-sleeker designs that generally adhered to a red-and-gold color scheme, the core elements of the character remained the same. He was a genius inventor who created a virtual wardrobe of armored suits to protect him from danger, and his wealth enabled him to maintain a state-of-the-art mansion in the New York City area.

During his time as one of the charter members of the Avengers, Iron Man battled numerous villains and fought off the threat of a hostile takeover of Stark Industries. His archenemy was the Mandarin, a sinister mastermind who rivaled Stark in scientific genius and wielded 10 rings of alien origin that granted him an array of powers.

Several movies were in development at various times before the Marvel Studios reboot in 2005. Iron Man was the first of these movies to reach production, with Jon Favreau hired to direct and Downey cast in the title role. The film was released in April 2008. It was a critical and commercial success, and it set the tone for the subsequent Marvel movies. In addition to Downey and Favreau, the film’s cast includes Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow, Leslie Bibb, and Shaun Toub. The film was a huge box office success, and the cast and crew were rewarded with lucrative contracts.
