Iron Man Mark 3 Review

Iron Man Mark 3 was Tony Stark’s third iteration of the iconic armor and a major upgrade from the previous suits. It featured an advanced on-board weapons system, more efficient flight capability, a new gold-titanium alloy, and the classic red and gold color scheme.

Powered by an arc reactor, the armor is able to fly, allowing the user to take to the skies and protect Wakanda from dangers beyond the planet. In addition, the Mark III is capable of producing a range of other advanced capabilities including fire blasts, smart micro-guns, shielding energy, electromagnetic pulse waves, and 3-dimensional holograms.

The Mark III is the most recognizable and powerful version of the suit. The figure is designed by the Queen Studios team with incredible accuracy before being painstakingly detailed and hand-painted. Internal lights are included to make the arc reactor, hands and eyes glow to add a stunning effect. The final product is a stunning display piece for any Marvel or Iron Man collector.

Like the other figures in the line, it’s a mix of hard plastic and PVC, with the parts near the hips being made of softer materials to allow for better articulation. It feels very high quality and the sculpt is quite good, with a solid head resembling Robert Downey Jr. and a nice, geometric body design. It also features a more refined and subtle paint application than the Mark VII.

This is a great figure and well worth the price. It’s not perfect, but the level of detail is pretty impressive and it has some really cool accessories that make it a worthy addition to your collection.

The figure comes in a single figure squared-off box that features side art showing characters from the Infinity Saga in a metallic sheen finish. The Marvel Legends logo is on the top left and the Iron Man logo on the bottom right. The box is also printed in English and Japanese.

This is the first time I’ve reviewed an Iron Man figure from Hot Toys and I was very pleasantly surprised. The figure is cast in a bright red that doesn’t look quite metallic but has a pearlescent sheen that’s closer to the on-screen suit than most other toys in this scale. The gold colouring is very well done as well, although there are some slight paint issues – the thigh armour coverage doesn’t extend to the full area and there’s a bit of scuffing on some sections of the torso armour. This is only minor, though and doesn’t detract too much from the overall look of the figure. As always, the articulation is great and this figure is fun to pose. It’s also very sturdy and I don’t think it will break easily. If you’re a fan of Iron Man, this is a must have!
