Iron Man’s primary method of flight is the repulsor technology embedded in the palms of his gloves and the soles of his boots. Essentially, these repulsors emit powerful energy blasts that create thrust and lift the suit off the ground. In addition to lifting, these jets also help Iron Man maneuver in the air and change direction.
In fact, one of the most iconic moments from Avengers: Infinity War is when Iron Man snatches the Infinity Stones out of Thanos’ hand, thereby destroying him and his followers. However, many fans have wondered how exactly he pulled off this feat. Some believe that he simply switched his glove with Thanos’, but this is incorrect. In reality, he manipulated the nanites on the gauntlet itself to transfer the stones to his own suit.
While it may seem impossible to recreate this move in real life, there is hope. The original gauntlet itself was made out of complex nanobots that were able to adjust to the wearer’s hand. If a physical prop of the gauntlet were ever built, it would be possible to re-create this same effect.
So, next time you see the Marvel Cinematic Universe, keep your eyes peeled for this amazing technology. And, who knows, maybe someday you too will be able to fly like Iron Man! Until then, cheers. (Image Credit: Marvel)
