Iron Man For Fortnite

The Iron Man suit has arrived for Fortnite as part of the ongoing Marvel X Fortnite crossover. The hero is available as a built-in emote in the Item Shop for 2,000 V-Bucks. It’s also part of the Zero War Set, which is a bonus reward for players who bought all five issues of the corresponding comic book series.

The suit is a powerful addition to the game, offering both new attacks and perks for players to use. The most notable addition is the Unibeam attack, which unleashes a huge blast that does big damage to all enemies and destroys walls and buildings in its path. It’s a great way to turn the tide of any gunfight, but players will need to be careful not to take too much damage while charging the beam because doing so forces the suit to power down.

When the suit powers down, it becomes vulnerable to enemy fire and can only recover three times before needing to recharge again. This limit is easy to reach if you’re not careful, but can be frustrating when you’re fighting a group of heavily armed opponents. In addition to the Unibeam, you can now charge up and fire missiles from Iron Man’s chest, which do significant damage to all targets. You can also now upgrade the arc reactor to gain more power for your thrusters and auxiliary weapons.

Another fun addition is the ability to change the appearance of your suit’s face and hands using a pair of dials on the bottom of the screen. It’s a small detail, but one that adds a lot of character to the look of the suit. Iron Man is a solid enough addition to the Fortnite universe and it has plenty of extras to keep completionists playing for a while. It’s just not a system-selling killer app like Marvel’s Spider-Man or a sequel worthy of the blockbuster movie it’s based on, but it does provide an entertaining time flying around as Shellhead.

For a while, Iron Man makes a convincing argument against the “just another movie game” stigma. The cinematic cutscenes are adequate, and the intuitive aerial combat offers plenty of thrills. But about halfway through the 13 levels, things start to sour as the difficulty spikes and the mission structure flatlines. Then, even sympathetic jurors will have a hard time ruling in its favor.
