Justin Hammer is the head of Hammer Industries, a company that creates advanced technology. He is a frequent adversary of Iron Man. He is a multi-billionaire businessman who possesses vast influence in the criminal underworld and is eager to take down Tony Stark.

In Marvel Comics, Hammer is the creator of many of the weapons and technology that are used by villains like Blacklash and the Mandarin. He also pays bail for mercenaries he hires and funds the development of their weaponry and equipment.

As an entrepreneur, Hammer had a great interest in the military, and he was always trying to get his arms products in front of the military. This includes the Ex-Wife Missile, which he says is powerful enough to destroy any enemy bunker with a single strike.
