Iron Man is one of the most popular Super Heroes in the Marvel universe. LEGO has released a number of sets based on the character, which offer kids a variety of options for building and playing with. These sets can be used to build and display different versions of the Marvel character and his various suits, as well as other characters from the Marvel universe.
There are a few notable differences between this LEGO version of Iron Man and the other incarnations in the Marvel movies. The first is the size. This model is much bigger than other LEGO Iron Man sets, which is a huge change from the previous scale of many of these models. The model itself stands 20.5 inches tall, and is made up of 4,049 pieces.
The set is packed with lots of interesting detail, and the figure itself looks a lot better than most previous LEGO Iron Man figures. The head is incredibly detailed, and the suit itself looks very impressive. The armor is also quite a bit more detailed than many other LEGO Marvel characters, with studs covering most of the body’s surface area.
It has a few nice little touches, such as a light-up Arc Reactor in the chest, and some transparent blue studs for repulsors. There’s not a lot of articulation on the arms, but there are plenty of poses that can be achieved with them. The torso is built with sandwiching ball joints between brackets and inverted brackets, with the legs utilizing a similar technique.
He has a number of different weapons, including the classic pistol, a shield and a pair of jets coming out of his legs. He also has a removable helmet, which is great for building into different angles.
This is one of the larger builds that we’ve seen from LEGO in recent years, and it has a fair few features that will appeal to fans. In particular, the torso can be rotated around and flipped up to reveal the inside of the Hulkbuster’s cockpit. There’s a button on the back of the figure to activate this feature, which lights up an orange light in the center of the Arc Reactor.
Another neat thing about this model is that it includes an internal cockpit for the Iron Man figure, and it’s also spacious enough to accommodate Tony Stark. This is the first time that we’ve seen this sort of feature on a LEGO model, and it’s certainly a cool addition.
The figure can be posed in a range of positions, and it’s surprisingly robust considering how small the parts are. However, some articulation limitations remain, as well as the fact that the shoulder plates restrict how high the arms can be raised. This may not be a problem for the majority of modellers, but it does mean that it’s more difficult to pose the figure in some more complex action positions than others.
Despite some of these issues, this is a very cool, detailed and fun model that any LEGO fan should be happy to own. It’s a fantastic addition to any LEGO Marvel collection, and I think it would make a terrific gift for anyone who’s a big fan of the Avengers or Iron Man.
